Who is KOFO?
My name is Kristie Fornah. I am a wife and a mom of three beautiful children. The concept for KoFo came about as a play on my name, Kristie Odom Fornah. I had toyed with the idea of starting my own business, but I really began to pursue the idea after the sudden loss of my oldest son Donte to suicide in December 2022. Instantly, my whole life changed. Afterward, I was consumed with thoughts of “How did I miss the signs?” He always seemed so happy and was willing to help anyone. So why did he feel like he had to suffer in silence? I’ve always had a passion for helping others, and from that day forward I made it my mission not to let anyone else experience the same pain that I have. I want to put suicide awareness and prevention at the forefront so that the stigma surrounding talking about it can be removed. I want those who are suffering to know that others are suffering with the same thoughts and feelings. I also want them to know that there are resources out there to help without making them a spectacle. Help me turn my tragedy into something positive.
