Who is KOFO?

My name is Kristie Fornah. I am a wife and a mom of three beautiful children. The concept for KoFo came about as a play on my name, Kristie Odom Fornah. I had toyed with the idea of starting my own business, but I really began to pursue the idea after the sudden loss of my oldest son Donte to suicide in December 2022. Instantly, my whole life changed. Afterward, I was consumed with thoughts of “How did I miss the signs?” He always seemed so happy and was willing to help anyone. So why did he feel like he had to suffer in silence? I’ve always had a passion for helping others, and from that day forward I made it my mission not to let anyone else experience the same pain that I have. I want to put suicide awareness and prevention at the forefront so that the stigma surrounding talking about it can be removed. I want those who are suffering to know that others are suffering with the same thoughts and feelings. I also want them to know that there are resources out there to help without making them a spectacle. Help me turn my tragedy into something positive. What does "What's the Reasoning" mean

“What’s the Reasoning” was something my son often said. His life ended tragically in 2022, and now I find myself pondering the significance of his words. For me, “What’s the Reasoning” begs the question: why is suicide still a taboo subject that isn’t openly discussed? How does “What’s the Reasoning” apply to your own life? What is driving your decision to act or not act? KOFO is dedicated to combating the stigma surrounding suicide. Our mission is driven by passion – to express your unique style and raise awareness about suicide through printed art. A part of the proceeds from sales will support a foundation that will help cover the cost of counseling/treatment for those experiencing a mental health crisis. Another portion will contribute to organizing/hosting annual suicide awareness events, providing resources and a platform for individuals impacted by suicide to share their stories.
